Chick Story No. 2
My seven year old walked out the back door the other
night shortly after 9:00 p.m. and heard the little chicks peeping
like "mad". The sounds were coming from the little shed
where they were supposedly safe and locked up for the night.
In the dark, she flung open the door to rescue the hen and chicks
and set them free, and as she reached for them, she felt a SNAKE!
Everyone came running, and finallly we had a lamp with an
extension cord and a little bit of light. By this time she
was almost HYSTERICAL and crying, so I ran to comfort her.
I was so THANKFUL that she was o.k., but her only concern was
for poor "RUNNER", the unfortunate little chick who was not able
to escape the "devil" and who was at this point already half-devoured
by him. My older daughter, was the hero who grabbed the
shovel and kept the snake from escaping, and then my deart husband
came and "finished him off", cutting him in two. My
poor little girl was so glad that she had heard and
had set the others free, but this was a traumatic experience for
her, and she didn't sleep well after that. She was so afraid
another snake would come and finish off the rest of her beloved
chickies, but they are fine, "pecking away" outside my window
this morning!
I Peter 5:8-11
8 Be sober, be vigilent; because your adversay the DEVIL. as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom RESIST stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same AFFLICTIONS
are accomplished in your brethern that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace who hath called us unto his eternal
glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have SUFFERED A WHILE, make
you perfect, stablish ,strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
